A cup of barista stories

I’m very excited to share my first barista story with you. Lorenzo Perkins is an incredible barista who has worked for a while in the Texas Coffee scene it was very insightful to get his perspective.

How long have you been a barista? Eleven years

Where have you been  a barista? Starbucks, 5 years, Caffe Medici for 41/2 years,

Cuvee 1 1/2 years

What do you do? Roaster, trainer, customer support

Why are you in coffee? I like people, watching faces when they taste tasty things, engaging them.

How do you think culture has changed in Texas? Its bigger, There is more focus- people are trying to make consistently great coffee, Medici-opened 6 years ago, was the first to do that kind of coffee in Austin, its all very new,

I know you mentioned travel earlier, Do you get to do that with this job? get to and have to, I’ve  been a way from home for 3 weeks at this point. outside of texas, Cuvee sells coffee in New York and Washington, expansion but mostly in Austin, with only 6 people it s not really feasible to expand much farther at this point.
