a cup of sugarbrowns
sugarbrowns delivered a much needed caffeine jolt after our early morning wake up to see palo duro canyon. its distant location in lubbock has always made me wary of its true caliber but jacob kept singing the praises of the baristas and their espresso, so i had to give it a chance. i was immediately impressed by their selection of coffee. intelligentsia, as well as brown’s and evocation coffee were all offered as french presses. since we’d just come from intelligentsia we decided to try evocation’s coffee as it was roasted a few miles away in canyon texas. it, on top of the cappuccino and macchiato perked us right up. i love their commitment to coffee as well as their ability to create community through music. jacob played here multiple times in college and their stage is a central part of the cafe environment. they reveal the possibility and necessity of excellent coffee while serving the needs of the large music community in lubbock. sugarbrown’s,you’ve won me over, i look forward to my return and review of evocation’s roastery.
